Bwlchgwyn Cattery

Welsh Boarding Cattery

Bwlchgwyn Cattery is a small family-run boarding cattery, located in the village of Bwlchgwyn, near Wrexham. Located just off the A525 and within easy access of the A483 and A55. We believe it is important for cats not to feel boxed in and to have a view of the outside World. The Cattery has 17 units, four of which can house up to 4 cats from the same household and one which can be extended for 6 cats. Please look at our Facebook page to see some of our current guests. Our Cattery won the SME Welsh Business Awards ‘Most Trusted Cat Boarding Service 2023- Wrexham’ . the Luxlife Pet Products and Services Award ‘Cat Boarding Business of the Year 2024 – North Wales’ – SME 2025 Best Cat Boarding Centre, North Wales

A home from home

Each unit has a garden chair for cats to relax. It is a great favourite on a sunny day. Cats often sit on the viewing shelf to look out and all units have an outside view.

Cats are kept warm in their sleeping area by thermostatically controlled radiators. Owners are welcome to bring their cats’ own beds.

Feeding occurs twice daily unless indicated otherwise. Medicines, including injections, are carried out as instructed.

We also have three large outside hutches and runs for rabbits.

Our Prices

Prices, Bookings & Stay Charges

Please call 01978 755584 or email info@cattery.org.uk for a competitive price for your cat’s stay. Prices are charged per calendar day, including the first and last day. Once the minimum three-day charge has been exceeded, the final planned day is not charged if your cat is collected before 10:30am, excluding Christmas and New Year. From 2026, the minimum charge for all stays will be three days. Agreed charges for future stays will remain unless substantially altered.

Vaccinations, Accommodation & Cover

Cats must be up to date with cat flu and feline enteritis vaccinations, with proof required. Certificates can be emailed in advance, and worming and flea treatment dates are helpful. Cats must arrive and leave in a secure carrier. Prices include suitable accommodation for the number of cats sharing: 4ft wide for up to 2 cats, 5ft or 6ft wide for 3 to 4 cats, and adjoining runs for 5 to 6 cats. Only cats from the same household may share. Veterinary cover is £1,500 per cat, per stay for non-pre-existing conditions or associated problems. Stays over 31 days require extended insurance, so no long-stay discount is available.

Food, Rabbits & Payment Options

Prices include food from our list and the administration of medicines. Any food not listed must be provided by the owner. Wet foods include Whiskas, Felix, Sheba, Gourmet and Harringtons. Dry foods include Go-Cat, Whiskas, Purina ONE and IAMS. Other foods may be available from time to time, currently including soups by Felix and Gourmet. Rabbits are outdoor only and charged per calendar day. From 1st January 2024, rabbits are £5, plus £3 for an additional rabbit per hutch, with dry food provided by the owner. Payment can be made by bank transfer, card, contactless, Google Pay, Apple Pay or cash. Cheques are not accepted.
